Norway’s KLP Boligkreditt is close to making its covered bond debut, with a domestic issue targeted for launch this month, according to an official at the issuer, after Moody’s yesterday (Wednesday) assigned a provisional rating to the covered bonds.

DLR Kredit is close to bringing to an end the latest round of refinancing auctions by Denmark’s mortgage credit institutions (MCIs), having today (Thursday) finished its auctions of one year ARM bonds, while BRFkredit has said it is pleased with the response to its new, pre-financed bonds.

Swedbank restarted euro benchmark covered bond supply after two weeks without issuance on Wednesday, pricing its first such deal of the year in a busy week for the FIG market across asset classes, with other Nordic issuers variously tapping senior unsecured, subordinated debt, and floating rate covered bond markets.

The impact of the Norwegian housing market on covered bonds has been an ongoing topic for quite some time now. After strong growth of over 300% in the last 20 years, we’ve started to see the beginning of a correction in Norwegian house prices more recently.

Aktia Bank announced on Tuesday that it has mandated banks to organise a series of investor meetings for its euro benchmark covered bond programme, with an official at the issuer noting that the roadshow would be used to gauge market conditions and investor appetite.

Norway’s Eika Boligkreditt, formerly Terra BoligKreditt, will go on a roadshow next week ahead of a potential euro deal, which would be its first benchmark covered bond in the currency since January 2013 after a strong year in the domestic market led it to delay such a move, according to an official at the issuer.

Nordea Bank Finland got the ball rolling in euro benchmark covered bonds in 2014 when it priced one of the first deals of the year on Tuesday, with Eu8.5bn across nine issues priced by today (Thursday), including one for Norway’s Sparebanken Vest.

Danish lenders are responding to regulatory and rating agency pressures to reduce the share of adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) with the launch of Cita-based loans and a revival of fixed rate callables, with Moody’s highlighting Nordea Kredit’s success in the latter as credit positive.
