Jyske returned to the senior unsecured market for possibly the last time on 23 May after in March selling its biggest capital trade, a four times covered Eu300m 12 year non-call seven Tier 2 that investors welcomed as a rare opportunity to buy a yieldy euro trade from the Dane.

Bids were strong throughout the latest Danish refinancing auctions, with non-domestic investors in particular finding value, as Nykredit hailed improving recognition of its euro FRNs and Realkredit Danmark priced a Skr4.35bn issue with the slimmest pick-up versus domestic paper in recent years.

BRFkredit sold a EUR750m seven year covered bond on Wednesday that bankers said was the most solid deal of the week, benefitting from a bounce in sentiment, after Stadshypotek sold a EUR1bn six year issue on Monday that was only just oversubscribed amid weaker conditions.

Nykredit is planning to cut ARMs auctions from four times to twice a year as part of an initiative aimed at offering fewer but larger lines of covered bonds to meet LCR Level 1B criteria that have affected pricing in the Danish market, where the latest auction season ended solidly.

Jyske Bank sold a debut €500m fixed rate senior unsecured benchmark bond yesterday (Thursday), and an official at Jyske explained that it had moved away from its previously preferred FRN format because of a changing regulatory environment. SBAB on Monday sold its first fixed rate senior issue in two years.

BRFkredit sold a debut, Eu500m five year covered bond on Wednesday, and plans to return to the euro market in the fourth quarter and establish itself as a frequent issuer therein, with an official at the issuer citing the benefits of diversification away from the Danish market.

BRFkredit is set to launch an inaugural euro benchmark covered bond in a move that an official at the Jyske Bank subsidiary said will reduce its refinancing of Danish krone bonds while taking advantage of funding opportunities in the European market.

The latest Danish quarterly sales of bonds to refinance adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) achieved healthy bid-to-cover ratios after Nykredit Realkredit kicked off activity on Monday, with longer dated paper offering relatively high spreads particularly well bid.

Danske Bank made pre-tax profits of Dkr4.5bn (Eu605m) in the third quarter, 6% ahead of consensus expectations, and raised its outlook for the full year from Dkr10bn-Dkr13bn to Dkr11.5bn-Dkr13.5bn.
