Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) took advantage of a strong post-FOMC market to attract some $3bn of demand to a $600m perpetual non-call five Additional Tier 1 on 16 March, its first AT1 transaction in over two years.

Nordea Mortgage Bank, a new Finnish issuing entity established following a demerger of Nordea Bank Finland, is looking into possibilities in the euro market and could launch its first euro covered bond in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to an official at Nordea.

Stadshypotek issued its first covered bond out of a Finnish cover pool today (Tuesday), selling a thrice-subscribed Eu500m 10 year issue that progressed smoothly, in contrast with more turbulent conditions in other markets, with NordLB pulling a senior trade amid pressure on European banks.

A debut, dual tranche DKK1.5bn equivalent AT1 for Jyske Bank on 7 September was more than twice oversubscribed, and comprised the first benchmark Swedish krona AT1 from a non-domestic name, with a Jyske official deeming the result a testament to years of work in the Swedish market.

DBRS published a first Legal & Structuring Framework (LSF) assessment of Swedish covered bonds yesterday (Thursday), highlighting some shortfalls but noting these are “not uncommon” and have mitigating factors, while also citing covered bonds’ connectedness to the economy as a strength.

BRFkredit sold a EUR750m seven year covered bond on Wednesday that bankers said was the most solid deal of the week, benefitting from a bounce in sentiment, after Stadshypotek sold a EUR1bn six year issue on Monday that was only just oversubscribed amid weaker conditions.

Nykredit sold its first benchmark, syndicated Swedish krona covered bond with a three year maturity on Tuesday, having previously issued shorter dated paper in the Swedish market, and attracted some SEK20bn of orders for a SEK5bn FRN.

SEB sold a €1bn senior unsecured FRN with an uncommon four year maturity on Wednesday, opting for this partly to tap a part of the curve vacated in light of upcoming TLTROs, according to SEB’s John Arne Wang, with eventual demand of over €1.3bn surpassing expectations.

Länsförsäkringar Bank sold a SEK1bn (€108m) dual tranche five year senior unsecured bond on Wednesday, sensing an opportunity to tap into strong demand in an undersupplied market, according to the issuer’s head of long term funding, and is considering a debut public euro issue.

Stadshypotek looks set to issue covered bonds backed by a dedicated Finnish residential mortgage cover pool under Swedish legislation, after Moody’s yesterday (Thursday) announced a provisional Aaa rating for such covered bonds, with issuance off a Danish pool also a possibility.
